About this degree

Single degree
In a Bachelor of International Business degree program you will study a total of 144 units.  Typically you will take 4 courses per semester (total of 24 units) as a full time student giving you a total of 24 courses across your whole degree.

Enrolment Status

It is possible to enrol in fewer courses per semester but it will take you longer to finish your program and get your degree. If you are an international student you must always be enrolled full-time in 24 units each semester.

Important things to keep in mind when choosing your 1000-level courses

When you enrol for the first time you will study ‘1000-level’ courses. These courses have ‘1’ as the first number in their course code, such as BUSN1001.

Please also note that:

  • You need to enrol in courses for both First Semester and Second Semester.
  • In your first year, you cannot study more than four courses (24 units) per semester, eight for the year.
  • You may take 1000-level courses later in your program.   But remember you can’t count more than ten 1000-level courses (60 units) in total towards your Bachelor of International Business.
  • You can change your course enrolment via ANUHub up until the Monday of Week 2.

Electives

You can use your electives to enrol in any courses that you like, provided you meet prerequisite requirements.

Academic Advice

You will need to select one of the following compulsory specialist plans (streams):

  • Asian Business,
  • European Business, or
  • Middle Eastern Business.

The 36u of courses in a single language are expected to start with a course typically only offered in Semester 1 (February start) each year and then be completed in sequential order over three years.

However, if you wish to commence your studies in Semester 2 (July start) and complete within three years, then you will need to demonstrate a sufficient level of language proficiency, either by placement test or with permission of the course convenor.

Alternatively, for those commencing in Semester 2 (July start) without relevant prior language experience, please discuss a study plan with CBE Student Services that spreads your study over 3.5 years, instead of the regular 3 years study duration.
